Cyclone celebrates 50 year milestone.
Cyclone Drilling recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The company was founded in 1975 by James Hladky and Don Delamonte who both left another drilling contractor during a downturn in the industry. The two recruited some other investors, pooled their life savings and purchased an old drilling rig.
Hladky used his drilling rig expertise to repair and refurbish the rig and soon it was ready to market. Delamonte handled the marketing.
"They obtained a contract with a local operator and the rest is history," said Paul Hladky, son of one of the founders.
Today Cyclone operates rigs in Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota and Oklahoma and has a reputation for operating efficiently and safely in the markets it serves. This is the result of an employee workforce with virtually no turnover.
"We are definitely employee focused," said Hladky. "We believe that if we take care of our employees, they will take care of the company. So far that formula has worked."
